Year 4.44 is three years and ten months of Doris’ loss. On Monday I had TW lunch and bought some dumplings. I was fascinated by the cloth masks there as I started wearing cloth last week courtesy of Laus.
Day two was a slow zoom day but I had to work on my Easter sermon. I have finalized my next book for publishing.
On Wednesday like yesterday I took the morning off to exhaust my leave. My coworker said we can extend the leave to 2021 but I said 今日唔知聽日事Night leaders night meeting was zoom. I was happy I finally sent the script to publisher.
Day four was a sleepy day. I just pray that I’m not sick. I was glad I was sick three days before Chinese New Year so I can relax and not fear virus that much.
On Friday I was glad I had shaken off the dozing spell. The publisher said yes so I’m thankful my book has been accepted tea in these hard times and long days.
Day six was hair cut and flower day to remember Doris tomorrow. In the afternoon was taping worship for tomorrow with the youth army and we had a lot of fun as usual. Katie joined us for organ and prayer.
Sunday was prayer meeting, worship and wedding day. Praise God I taped parts of the wedding from the office for all onlookers and did some sermon in the afternoon.

Year 4.43
Year 4.43 was a good week despite the bad. On Monday I had breakfast with a neighbor postponed to a day later. It’s good to catch up with friends and things.
Day two was a sharp change in the weather with leaves all over. Coworkers meeting is short zoom again, but I have to prepare 2 Peter 2 because a speaker canceled.
Wednesday “future” meeting did not go well. More seats mean more jostling. I prefer as is. Some said, You need to have a better alternative. At least I know now that we can offer plan B.
Day four was bad because my chiropractor contracted snake skin so our appointment was canceled, for a few weeks at least.
On Friday Bei recorded the pth version for Lord, Make Me Whole. The empty room produced an echo, so she plans to redo it.
Day six was pth department zoom meeting, followed by guitar training for the young guns. I also played for the adult praise team, my first.
Sunday was back to church and lunch with K. I kinda finished up my last question for my Genesis series.

Year 4.42
Year 4.42 was an uncomfortable week. On Monday I received a call from seminary to ask me to teach ten Monday noon classes beginning in April. I hesitated but agreed but they sounded as if they expected I would be willing to do it. I’m not fond of hk teaching nowadays.
Day two was coworkers zoom day but I’m not a fan. I took my PC but I had to adjust to no word doc but learned Libre. My coworker P was upset because we are running short of staff help.
On Wednesday we had a short leaders prayer meeting, followed by language meeting. I have to convinced them that we’re moving to a smaller place. I expected ministry money to be tight due virus.
On day four, I woke to a dream I have five million in my bank! All my fears are eating my sleep time. I had a good chiropractor treatment today on some hip muscles.
Friday was a quarrelsome day due to the lack of office virus help. I think people are very rough, like bouncers nowadays. At night we had a birthday celebration for R on the person reaching 60. We had a great time because the four of us are one year apart.
Day six was early zoom. At least we were on one page. In the afternoon we had guitar lessons, followed by dinner prayer and praise.
Sunday was shocking because we were still missing Sunday video so there was commotion and we started worship at 1145am. The finance report was disappointing to my English colleague.

Year 4.41
Year 4.40 was challenging because of my FB live sermon. On Monday I woke to a coronavirus dream because friend doctor Kwan said it’s a humanitarian disaster! At least the church was not infected in my dream. I had lunch with in-law Marion who wanted to walk TY pier.
Day two was coworkers zoom time, followed by division sharing. I had to wrap up my long-prepared Habakkuk 1 sermon for preaching on Sunday.
Wednesday was leaders meeting but the usual suspects stayed safely in their home to zoom away. Some seemed to have disappeared as soon as the virus appeared. I started breakfast fasting yesterday while today’s Ash Wednesday.
Day four was half day. At least I got to see my chiropractor. After that i had lunch with XB but K could not make it because of his kids. I asked my division staff to work from home like they worked in the office.
Friday was a big day because I finally got my sermon done but lacking one illustration for my last point. I joined the Laus for dinner to catch up with their immigration plans.
Day six was language zoom meeting. We are at a critical juncture because of the virus. After enduring the meeting with our partners we had our own discussion among ourselves. I opt to rent nearby. The first guitar class was a huge success with three students. We had dinner with sharing and prayer after. Thankfully I had my last sermon illustration from Life is Beautiful right when I decided to sleep.
Sunday was nervous time. We were at the venue 10am for the singers to warm up and I joined team at 1015. I preached breathlessly while pressing from notebook to camera button. After it was over we had Vietnamese lunch and I returned to the office to revise my sermon. Later I left church to buy flowers. At night I joined to sing with a neighbor at the pier.

Year 4.40
Year 4.40 was the occasion of three years and nine months of Doris’ loss. On Monday I woke up to a dream. I love the emotions even though I had forgotten the dream. Otherwise all things are canceled, so I bought flowers and Fatty wontons for dinner.
Day two was coworkers zoom meeting, followed by cdr. English pastor gave me a box of masks and I also offered a box to buddy. I admit I’m a mask hoarder!
On Wednesday we had a zoom interview with a potential USA candidate. Language meeting was ok but domestic helpers have more social problems nowadays due the virus. A language candidate also decided to stick with a missions organization.
Day four began with a chiropractor appointment. He took just a few patients today. Later we had a one hour short seminary zoom meeting.
Friday started with morning breakfast at pacific. My coworker is worried if we can get the potential candidate. I had a haircut for tomorrow’s special occasion. At 3 we had a worship video for Sunday starting Andy and Victor, I was so proud of them.
Day six was remembering three years and nine months of Doris’ loss. Nothing much but I still cherish my baby.
Sunday came and we had zoom prayer meeting for the first time , and worship with Keith at church followed by Vietnamese lunch. I did a lot of editing for my Lent broadcast. At night I caught up with Andy for dinner but a PC store we wanted to visit was scared shut by the virus.

Year 4.39
Year 4.39 was not any better but it was less frightening, but for me it was ok. The only fear is fear itself. On Monday I woke to a dream of a giant snake stalking Doris and I at a vacation center. I had to cancel a chiropractor appointment over a mistaken clash meeting date.
Day two coworkers meeting was all zoom-based. Coworkers were mostly working from home, can’t blame them.
Wednesday leaders meeting was on but four were still zooming in the comfort of home. Honestly it’s the fear factor more than anything.
Day four I was thinking of a next book on conflict and solution. I got more than forty passages.
On Friday buddy and I finally met with a missions coworker and there was no stopping him, not even the virus.
Day six was worship rehearsal. I stated behind to help the team because most were too scared or unhelpful to them.
On Sunday I met up with A and V for worship followed by lunch and online fellowship for them. We had tea and sharing and left at 6.

Year 4.38
Year 4.38 was no better than last week’s coronavirus scare. On Monday I woke up to a dream of Doris saying my bible studies are too short! I headed to Tsuen wan where there was less people and just one stop away. The afternoon chiropractor visit was canceled by my foot masseur.
Day two’s coworkers meeting was canceled and we all got home office. I was busy writing my Habakkuk 1 message and as usual I get into office by lunch.
On Wednesday we had a leaders zoom meeting. I must say it’s convenient but not effective, but most were glad they were at home.
Day four was a riot. I was glad my nearby chiropractor did not cancel. There was a big rush for supermarket supplies. I was glad o finally finished my Ezra 10 sermon at home.
On Friday Keith and I sang for our prerecorded Sunday’s worship. I started wrapping up my genesis book for publication. I was excited again after leaving it for a few months.
On Saturday I did nothing much but found a few illustrations for my Habakkuk sermon and also wrote a devotional for the church, which was later rejected.
On Sunday we were part of the audience to cheer Lai for the pth live broadcast in another week of canceled worship. After lunch I went to buy flowers. I slept a whole lot and rested as much as I could but frankly I was bored.

Year 4.37
Year 4.37 was a bad week for everyone, if ever there was one. Monday started ok with walk at the Peak to remember Doris customarily in the third day of cny. We ate at the famous Gordon Ramsay.
Day two’s coworkers meeting was canceled because it’s still Chinese New Year in hk. Already some leaders were petrified, calling for the cancellation of Sunday worship services, yes no kidding, hk people have scars from 2003 SARS.
By Wednesday coworkers were allowed to work from home. I couldn’t remain home whole day, so I was at the office by lunch. Things don’t look good when our island club houses announced they’ll be closing till February 16.
Day four was a good lunch with Justin. After lunch our senior leaders did a complete turnaround. Worship services finally received a death knell from leaders citing the scarcity of face masks. I was not agreeable especially when our good office was said to be involved in the decision making. No such thing were my two cents worth. I had a foot appointment too.
On Friday Jay and wife came by for lunch packing a dinner box and a box of masks. We had a long talk. I surely hope he will stay around, but things don’t look too good.
Day six was normal to only a few coworkers. I went to office in the afternoon. P and I checked out our neighborhood church for worship tomorrow.
I was ready for worship at csw. The worship was rock style. Warren was at his best but Lee was boring and gibberish at best. I went to get flowers because the day was early. I suddenly realized I missed Doris so I rearranged the room to give my wife her rightful central place.

Year 4.36
Year 4.36 was a scary virus week. On Monday I finally finished my personal Ezra 8 sermon that took me more than a month. It’s a lot of work but the satisfaction is greater!
Day two morning was a coworkers meeting to see how to divvy up the work now that B coworker is leaving. The two Ks will help to lead prestudy and I will chair the group leaders meeting. I had my haircut to remember Doris tomorrow. Buddy asked me if I were going to a funeral but I also had to counsel X and J about their wedding problems.
Wednesday night was two PA interviews. One worked out but one was problematic. It’s been quite a balancing headcount act lately!
Day four was close to new year so there was lots of cleaning at the house. Met SFs K for lunch. I also had a painful foot massage.
Friday was New Year’s Eve so we went to dragon tribe for lunch with Derek. Our three families dinner was canceled because SARs was menacing two in the nursing profession.
On Saturday things were bad this year due the virus but we went to see 1917 in the mornings and ate at shake shack for the first time. At night we cooked our own spaghetti.
On Sunday the Chungs, the Chius, Roger and I had New Years lunch. Later we had another leaders meeting to tackle the health crisis. At night we had home made chicken mushroom to our satisfaction.

Year 4.35
Year 4.35 was a sudden change in pace because I forgot I was preaching this week. Monday was a normal day as we tried a TW Chinese bbq place. It pales in comparison to dragon tribe.
I was shocked by the crossover of secrecy and privacy lately. I asked questions but the legal wall was too high to climb. Separated or D? I figured out the answer lately because silence means scandal. It turned out to be worse.
On Wednesday I took half a day off because I had a hospital check up. There’s nothing the doctor could tell me but at least I got four months of high blood pressure meds. Night was leaders meeting but I was calm as a cucumber because I had answers to the collective secret.
Day four was lunch with SF friend who accompanied his father to Taiwan for the elections. His father voted for a candidate who was his former classmate. Friend is Bloombergish and tells me two elections will define the year, one in hk and another in USA.
On Friday morning I was surprised to know I’m speaking in two days time. I was given a wrong calendar so I had to make up for time like Superman. I had finished two of three points.
Day six was no time to lose but I need a last illustration and found it after three hours. A good illustration is hard to find. Night was fellowship and James needed 16 more books.
Praise the Lord the sermon worked out on Sunday even though I did not sleep well. Andrew challenged me when I said the Bible uses the phrase “keep His commands” and “keep His words” but never “keep His law,” except the last in a negative sense. We had six for our most wonderful reunion dinner.
