Year 3.18

Year 3.18 was the day after the typhoon, so I gave myself a treat at my favorite USA restaurant now in tst- Cheesecake Factory. After that I saw my chiropractor who gave me a good work out.

Day two was with my acupuncturist, which I did not care too much about. He will be away for one week, which means more breathing room. He charged a lot too.

Wednesday was back to an early appointment with my chiropractor who asked for two times a week treatment because of my poor health after the stroke. Language meeting was a quiet affair after a two hour deadlock last week in my absence.

Day four was lunch with a leader who had his own opinions and theories about succession. Later I had both acupuncture and hand treatment which was painful.

Friday was lunch with buddy’s leaders. After lunch I had an unexpected call from two USA friends who were in town. I got my hair cut from two for Doris’ monthly anniversary the next day. In return I got peaches from farmers market for all to enjoy together over the weekend.

Day six was Doris’ anniversary but I was glad I had two for company. After breakfast we had our last Greek class from the book. My student was in good form. At night fellowship we had the Romans introduction, which I was looking forward to. We had dinner at our favorite kf restaurant.

Sunday was week two of James after the typhoon came. It was a good Sunday school lesson. Dinner was chaozhou fare with two USA friends. We stopped by  for coffee and to relax before dinner.

Year 3.17

Year 3.17 was a rude nature shock. On Monday I was at a leaders retreat but the results are not to par. I went to get flowers for doris on way back. At the retreat I dreamed of getting a seminarian a box of precious moment cards but could not find the cards at bookstores. Buddy and I had dinner together.

Day two was good night men’s fellowship study of Dan 6. Seven attended, which was a lot. Shanghai son managed to translate the questions at the last minute. The acupuncturist was out of town so I could breathe easier.

Wednesday was a morning leader meeting that ended past 3pm. Buddy laughed that I was afforded space to sleep during meeting because of my poor health. I received news to meet the hospital neurological department on October 24. An administrator and I had a good cry because his wife just passed away from breast cancer.

Day four was noon work so I traveled in vain to TST to buy precious moments card from my dream. Evening was hand treatment. I found out my left side back spine was more painful that I thought.

Friday was the memorial service for an administrators wife. It was sad because she had watched Doris’ cancer from a distance. After the service I picked up a mattress cover Doris’ sisters made for me.

Day six was preparation for the typhoon. I was glad Son two was around with me just in case I need help. More food were bought. At night we attended worship, where buddy preached a good sermon for us before the storm arrived the next day. Kwan family was there and we had dinner together.

The typhoon day was a shock. My ac unit was seeping water, so were two room windows. Worship services were canceled, but I enjoyed Sally’s putonghua sermon. I had good company, so the day went better than I thought. I enjoyed making breakfast for a change. Despite the typhoon I had a most blessed week.

Year 3.16

Year 3.16 was a lot of physical suffering. Monday was the first day without my China sons staying with me since my stroke. They were very sweet and I missed them, sc was on holiday. It was ok now that I am back on my feet but my voice was still as before.

Day two was appointment with a Chinese doctor who burned my left foot skin with his apparatus, which made my walking a problem. It was very bad, close to unprofessional. The department had lunch with a former coworker.

On Wednesday I joined the day leaders for lunch with buddy but I had to limit my involvement because night leaders had a meeting too, which ended in an alarming 1 am, debating to the new scheme at hand. Thankfully we were allowed to leave two hours before at least. A deacon commented that my voice was a cold not a stroke, so it gave me hope. Mok sisters did a great cleaning job for me while I was at work. I got chiropractor treatment in the afternoon.

Day four was a morning at the hospital, where i received a shock that I have a bubble or aneurysm in my head. The doctor said I should not go overseas without treatment, which is three weeks away at least just for the doctor’s appointment. I hag gained 1.1 kgs now to 72kgs. had lunch with buddy and a coworker who was with me on his birthday because my three China sons were away. At noon I had acupuncture and hand massage.

Friday was dinner with Faith who praised two for loving and dutiful. I couldn’t agree more. I joined couples fellowship just to say Hi to those who were worried about my health.

Day six was whole department meeting and five of us had lunch with our deacon and division cochair. I tutored two a bit on language and got ready for dinner with another deacon.

Sunday was English sermon and I gave it my best voice and it turned out well. Then the leaders went to breakthrough for a retreat. The issues were as thick as ever but the chemistry was not there. Sz gave me the warmest surprise by bringing my vest to me, such an astonishing act to me, which is very much like me. We had late night dessert and buddy said I slept once I hit the bed.

Year 3.15

Week 3.15 was a blessed week. On Monday I had time to bond with my sd, sh and sz sons. This is the second time my sd son Zac’s been to Hong Kong. I took them to Tung Chung for coffee, followed by buffet. They all loved it. Sh has to go to Shenzhen to renew his visa after lunch. I decided to eat at home, buying a fish to steam and making a soup. Sz son left nothing at the table.

Day two was back to work and see my acupuncturist. My two boys and I had breakfast at the club house before I led my last preaching class. Sd and sc joined coworkers for lunch, where Jim shockingly said to me in front of all, If you die, you won’t get to use it (money). To which I said, We’ll see whose high blood pressure is higher when succession comes next year. All my three boys were at the hospital with me when the doctor delivered the news that I will have to cancel my next week’s training overseas. For dinner we went to Pepper Steak, my first time.

On Wednesday I was left with Zac and I took him to delifrance for breakfast because of the yum cha crowd. Jay took him to lunch because too much time by himself at the library was not good for him. At night I took Zac to Mak noodles and Oz milk company plus dessert, a HK experience for him. It was valuable bonding time as he also massaged my head, took my readings and made medicine for me. I also joined my language meeting since hospital discharge.

On Thursday i managed to take Zac to yum cha. He loved it so much. We had a late lunch after I took him to farmers market. I had to juggle acupuncturist and supervisor meeting before my hand treatment. I managed to sneak in sermon preparation time.

Friday morning was surprisingly a normal day without acupuncturist or chiropractor. I had much to catch up with sermon next week. I was glad sc was returning and we took Zac to Yata for dinner. My two sons did their best at night to massage my stroke affected right leg.

Saturday morning was papa’s turn to cook breakfast for them and they loved it so much with English tea, poached eggs, fusion bread, farmers market avocado and other fruits. I passed. At noon I gave sz some language tutoring. Evening was fellowship and late dinner at Mun Wah. At night during head massage Zac asked if he could call me papa, i said of course.

Sunday was same breakfast again with smaller portions due the rushed time but the boys seemed hungry. I attended language worship and English worship but returned home to rest before we had a family reunion of some sort before Zac returned to sd. I bought all a vest. It was a fulfilling night for me in all my pride.
