Year 5.8

Year 5.8 was an unexpected live worship week. On Monday I had lunch with my prayer buddies because Cheng and his wife are having a birthday this week. His wife always appreciate talking to us since her time at church is limited due to her work.

On day two I stayed home for the plumber to replace my toilet bowl for $4,500. I had to double back again before 530pm for the contractor to turn on the water and to settle the bill.

Wednesday was leaders night meeting but I was glad we ended by ten so that I can join up with youth zoom prayer meeting.

Day four was half a day at the deserted office but we always have enough coworkers present for a drink or a meal. I also had the chiropractor to meet.

On Friday student finally moved in for good. I’m way over my head so I’m just going to wing it and let my “live and let live” attitude take over, which I’m adapt at. It would a month to adjust.

Saturday was bike riding for youth so I joined the adults and had dinner with coworker. I have nervous energy for tomorrow’s preaching.

Sunday was preaching day for me returning to live worship, but my preparation was not good for an old message. I had dessert first time by myself after youth fellowship. At night student masssged my worn out leg.

Year 5.7

Year 5.7 was a freakish week because of a third wave of virus outbreak. On Monday I did my best to focus on my writing and had a quiet meal with friends. I started listening to coworkers’ sermons for my own devotion.

On day two I had a birthday breakfast for a friend canceled. It’s hard to get going for everybody. We have a worship meeting but there’s nothing new because the news got worse the next few days.

On Wednesday leaders meeting was smooth without the hour sharing on prayer items. At night two told me the benefits of reading Nahum, so I decided to make it my next series after 2 Peter.

Day four was a HK workshop. I asked how plain should our preaching be and he said can quote ordinary sources. I went to see my chiropractor without finishing the talk.

Friday was a breakfast canceled because my coworker had trouble finishing up his sermon. I sent out my third week of sermon ministry video, this time by Philemon Choi. I finally finished Luke 6 sermon for my new book.

Day six I woke up disoriented, thinking it’s Friday instead of Saturday and didn’t catch up until after lunch when we had a department meeting. The music practice was hilarious when I had to play the music. Student moved a luggage to my place.

Sunday was relaxing because I did not have to preach! The new virus measures discouraged a lot of people from coming, so we’re only a third full.

Year 5.6

Year 5.6 was sermon week for two weeks in a row! Monday was a good rest day but I returned to church to work on my sermons.

Day two was training day but I skipped because I had to attend another on Thursday. I received the syllabus for a course I was invited to co-teach but Greek was the last thing on my mind for students to master in order to teach them preaching. I told them I’m not interested in Greek at my age!

Wednesday was July 1 public holiday. I didn’t join any crowds but I did have lunch in dragon tribe and on the way home checked out ifc and landmark.

Day four was an interesting seminar on the latest Act. I asked speaker Cheung how plain should we be in future preaching and he said just quote norms. I wrote a letter to tell all the latest developments in the department.

On Friday my supervisor and I sat down with a coworker who refused to let go of his work. Truly he’s a good person trapped in the old man. I sent out Kong’s sermon for my week 2 online ministry.

Day six I went to core meeting but it was canceled. We had lunch together and later had music practice. I will have a new housemate soon- a student going through hard times!

Sunday is hectic as usual on a preaching week. Language worked acted out for missing a guitar. I had to finish my English sermon and then rush in time to do lords supper in pth. We had dessert and I missed my china son.

Year 5.5

Year 5.5
Year 5.5 is nervous week leading to the city’s anniversary. Monday was after four years and one month of Doris’ loss, so I got my hair cut, not a day too late! At night I had dinner with Monday coworkers.

Day two was a frantic day writing Sunday’s sermon on Habakkuk 2. I don’t have much time because Thursday is a public holiday. At least I finished point 1!

Wednesday morning was an early Mei Foo home gathering for leaders. We had lunch and I hurried to write point two and three after lunch.

Day four was HK public holiday and I rested, but it was boring, and my writing was too slow. I decided to return my PC to office.

Friday was a good day because I finished my sermon and translation. Still I was not prepared for the response because it was rather dry.

Day six was a morning ICC meeting. All is well after the love to a new premise. We had our usual music practice but included a welcome song to Andy.

Sunday was an intensely personal day because of the sermon subject matter. At lunch we celebrated a young couple’s make up wedding lunch. Praise God the sermon was well-received and we had dessert as usual.
