Year 3.11 was a sick week. I went to an early lunch with a member who wants to enrol in seminary to be a tent maker missionary. The first class is Greek so he adopted me as backup teacher, not that I have much choice. The rest of the day was a quiet rest before I returned home for dinner.
Day two lunch was with interns. It was a quiet day in another way because it is a week off for coworkers meeting, so I spent noon teaching two language before seminary begins. I had to double up on Gal 6 for Sunday sermon and skipped mra which I heard was unpleasant. Today was anniversary dinner so i ate at passion with a friend to remember Doris my love.
Wednesday prayer morning I heard was distressing. I have too much on my hands and my third point had yet to round into shape. Buddy attended for the first time and it was as much a shock to him as it was my first time in January, which I have not attended since.
Day four was more work on the same passage but not much progress. After work was hand treatment at night. Two recorded the first ten Hebrew words with vety good pronunciation all the way, I am way proud.
On Friday I finally wrapped up the sermon satisfactorily even though the conclusion is undone. Night fellowship was canceled due revival meetings. I discovered bumps on my head and realized I was sick with sneezing in the morning as symptoms.
Day six was morning schedule for a change due revival meeting. Lunch was with a prospect but the gap is still huge, so I felt it was a waste of time. I left after work for night prayer walk. In a dream this week I was a lowly number 400 in seniority.
Sunday breakfast was with language committee. It was a rewarding sermon time. English worship celebrated two coworkers birthday. Lunch was with an English prospect but there is still a big gap to close. At night we went to TWW for dinner and dessert before we called it a day.

Year 3.10
Year 3.10 is a big shocker. On Monday I was supposed to visit an Indonesian senior but I had to intervene between two feuding brothers who have not met for eight years. The older one is smart but the younger is sentimental so I empathized with latter. The worse is their mom was already in coma but I was glad they could agree on a solution after two hours deadlock.
Day two was preaching class which is on the right track. Two could not get out of bed. My two coworkers and I brainstormed a plan to get an intern in because we ran out of one this year and there are holes to fill in choir and sz work.
Wednesday leaders meeting started early to discuss declining attendance but the end was a shocker. One shoe fitted but one big shoe dropped and my headache spinned until Some said it may not be bad 唔一定係唔好. I spent some time sighing away.
Day four was a dream of giving Doris’ old boyfriend her phone, if that would make her happy. Lunch was with an old hand who gave input but nothing was solved. Dinner with neighbors was a good break to get my mind off things. I bought a cake to celebrate my upcoming anniversary with Doris.
Friday fellowship was family gathering so I joined relatives group. My new fellowship leader has agreed to do James for our next prestudy. I returned home for prayer walk, a luxury for the last few days.
Day six lunch was with two, after which it took him three hours to submit his visa before returning to have dinner with me. My coworker asked two to join us for dinner and gave a proposal. I trust my coworker much as we could use a person with music background and an intern.
Sunday was Macdonald breakfast for two. I prayed for an English couple both with pain related problems especially the latter who had a crash. At night one and mom came for dinner. Twos mom accepted Christ. We had prayer and sang 親眼看見你 with two playing his first song.

Year 3.9
Year 3.9 ended with two Js return. On Monday I had lunch locally because my chiropractor session was canceled. Nevertheless I had drinks with buddy and neighbor. I met with Gao over dinner. He was ready for seminary trading but there was a lack of mandarin schools.
Day two was preaching class in the morning followed by preaching discussion after coworkers meeting. After the meeting I bumped into Some and told him wheels are falling off. Some promptly asked me to call for youth drinks. The person was not available. At night I wrote to worker two to calm things down.
On Wednesday I got Some last minute call for lunch to smooth things out and we heard how frustrating and helpless things are. Language meeting meanwhile was calm. Personnel issues were presented to our group out of the blue. Night leaders meeting ended at midnight so I slept at one.
Day 4 was disastrous. I hurt my back as my hand treatment was about to start, so I ended up being treated for my back rather. I blame it on previous night meeting. I could not do prayer walk or sit comfortably, so I slept earlier.
On Friday I had lots of visitors. A USA friend shared with me about his Israel trip. At night I treated the shandong boys to dinner. The father was a former student and they were in Hk for the first time. My relatives did not attend fellowship so I left early because it had been a full day for me.
Day six I shopped for a skillet for One. At noon I led prestudy for buddy and then joined seniors shortly before I joined my boys for dinner. One was back from camp and another from bj. Two helped me carry skillet to One’s place. Two gave me a big hug upon seeing me knowing how long he’s gone and the headaches he experienced. One sweetly offered to cut my hair before Doris’ day tomorrow.
Sunday was two years two months without Doris. I still miss my Doris and her memories are still alive inside me. My worship was interrupted by a request to visit a dying friend at the hospital, which was arranged for tomorrow. Seafood dinner was with usual youth but included shandong brothers. All left after prayer by 1030.

Year 3.8
Year 3.8 was a dream week. On Monday I kicked off with an opposing viewpoint leader who wanted to know how to decode coworkers’ thinking and direction, of which I tried to patiently explain to him. Overall the lunch went well. After lunch I went to see my chiro and for the first time the swelling in my arm went down after treatment. Praise God for it has been months of worry.
Day 2’s first summer preaching class started off well with seven students but it ended earlier at 11am. I noticed a coworker X was absent but it turned out he was working on his Sunday sermon. Night men’s fellowship was rescheduled till after summer.
Wednesday morning was core meeting that did not end till 330pm, so I skipped language meeting. There were a lot of issues to be discussed but it occupied a lot of my time. We need new blood for sure. At night I attended English fellowship in my coworker’s absence.
Day 4 I woke to a dream of Doris who was really mad at me for something wrong I did without recollection. I said, Wouldn’t I undo it if I could turn back the clock of time? She dashed outside but a ray of light enveloped her at night. It was so beautiful she cried, O my God. She had peace. I had friends from the old country to visit me at lunch. There was much to catch up with my former church especially on two friends who passed away. I had to finish up my Timothy survey for Sunday school, which I feel is a gem.
Friday morning was another dream of Doris. Despite her weakened condition, she decided to go eat at Tai Ko instead of moping at home. I suggested we pick up her sister to join us. The day was weird. I had diarrhea two week in a row. Doris’ sister did not come to fellowship, so I had big chicken dinner with B2. I was relieved BJ student survived his first week of Greek despite a lingering headache.
Day 6 was department meeting but we had earlier lunch with division cochair for coworkers to share about their work. Night was bible study. I was thankful to have the time for a few nights of prayer walk.
Sunday was last 2 Timothy class. I truly like this dedicated group but I was late for class two weeks in a row, forgetting my keys after the bus departed. I also met my new fellowship leader for lunch. At night I survived World Cup madness by resting late noon.

Year 3.7
Year 3.7 was a simmering week. Monday was a holiday, so I had breakfast with Doris’ sisters and youth. At noon I bought lilies and rested for one and a half hours before I decided night to go to the Mui’s for World Cup, Brazil versus Mexico. I reached home 1 pm on a tiring night.
Day 2 The lack of sleep caught up with me but I had to lead prayer meeting with my coworker R. The drama after lunch made everyone grouchy and touchy. Nevertheless I paid for drinks to celebrate buddy’s appointment to leadership.
On Wednesday I did not attend leaders meeting because I was running out of work time because I had to attend another prayer meeting after lunch. The language tensions did not let up. Buddy left for ten days vacation.
Day 4 I had coffee with a neighbor who is planning to interview for a job in Canada. A coworker told the sad news of her husband’s suspected nose cancer. After work I had foot treatment. I had prayer walk at night.
On Friday I had lunch with a lay leader R who was concerned for coworkers. Later I had such a headache with a disgruntled decision leader bent on reversal action. At night I had dinner with To and attended couples fellowship. My helpers came to watch World Cup with me.
Day 6 Adter a short club breakfast sz left. It was a sad day to lay to rest a coworker’s father. After that I celebrated youth Jeff’s birthday, followed by taking over buddy’s prestudy class. Night fellowship was big group where I heard a good testimony and left.
Sunday school was into second last week with overview next week left. Overall it was a most satisfying study. I attended English worship and then prayer meeting. At night I had some quiet time by myself.

Year 3.6
Year 3.6 was fast and furious. Twelve coworkers send our good friend Alan off at airport for his next challenge of ministering in Kingston, Canada. Many of us were very fond and proud of him, me too. Later I had a good chiro hour. At night four Pth interns graduated from ABS.
Day 2 was boisterous. Buddy took coworkers out for tea to celebrate his election into EC at 345 pm with an aided public announcement from the pastor. The atmosphere was so positive.
Wednesday was decision day turned awry for candidate. It will be felt for a long time. I dreamed 167 to 100 of passing. Leaders meeting had their input. Language meeting followed but I was so tired.
Day 4 lunch was with an editor. Book is set for December release. There was no time to waste because I had to work on my Sunday sermon. Meanwhile yesterday’s news reverberated. At evening I had foot treatment; everything is falling apart. This time he worked on my cold feet.
Friday fellowship was canceled due fifth Friday, which was a good thing because I had to attend a night memorial service. After the service we had dinner together. A coworker spouse asked me if I think of Doris at the same funeral home. Not much because it’s not same room but there were memories building.
Day 6 I finally activated my fruit phone for regular use after finding out there’s no way I could retrieve WhatsApp messages from my old phone. had to preach at night, when I received a very unfavorable feedback.
Sunday I preached the same sermon but the comments were very favorable. I had dinner with my English counterpart and a seminary student at TWW. The food and fellowship were great. I bought two pillows and a frying pan with hands to help me carry pan and pillows home.

Year 3.5
Year 3.5 covered the 25th month without Doris. On public holiday Monday I went with the youth to university for lunch, then to Yuen Long for famous grass jelly dessert, eventually gathering the group for dinner at my place and watching the world cup together. They took the 11pm bus home.
Day 2 I received a call from Asus saying that the screen repair charge was $1020, so there was no reason to keep the phone. At night a neighbor ordered iPhone 7 for me with 128g at 15 off. I decided to switch since most of my WhatsApp message were already lost.
By Wednesday I was frantically working on my Philippians 4 Sunday sermon. There was much to cover on verses 13-
19. I still did not get the flow of the verses. Language meeting was rocky, but at least I did my piece. Buddy's nomination was approved with no objection. Proud of him.
Day 4 I met with a fellowship member who asked for counsel on a lawsuit. I have no counsel but for him to ask new believers at his office about what to do so that they can grow together. After lunch I had a haircut and bought lilies for Doris. Hand treatment was at night.
Friday was Doris' 25 months of loss. I dreamed I was brushing or massaging Doris' hand or arm so that she could get to sleep faster - her favorite habit. As usual I wore black but I was glad I did not have to accompany Doris' sister for night fellowship, so I joined 馬友組 for dinner.
The phone finally arrived before lunch on Saturday. I stayed behind for fellowship and our ABS grads were in force for a last farewell. Eli gave me a cover for my new PC, which I'm sure he did not know I bought one.
Sunday school and sermon were blessed, with a few expressing appreciation. I met with Arthur at noon over coffee to see what ministry opportunities were available for our new seminary student in his city. The youth and a neighbor joined me for dinnerand prayer.

Year 3.4
Year 3.4 was a week of recuperation from USA trip. On Monday I went to get flowers for Doris and then had a chiro appointment. I missed smelling fragrant daisies. Dinner was with buddy, but another was on a mission trip.
Day 2 was a long day because there were a morning meeting and evening fellowship. Lunch was farewell party with one of my fondest coworkers. Men's was disappointing because only three showed up. I left USA almonds for staff and coworkers on the table but even the packet was gone by next morning.
On Wednesday I attended a leaders meeting and I was glad it ended by 2pm. At 3 I had to intervene into an emotional conflict, not my strength. Dinner was with a USA friend C who is planning to attend seminary, but has no breakthrough.
Day 4 The half day was full. Lunch was with CBI rep who wanted me to be involved with a new certificate program. Next I had tea with a fellow leader who took the time to find out how I'm doing, but it was cut short because I had to visit cais. I was glad I could install an old Bible program in my new PC after an arduous attempt. Dinner was with 馬友組
On Friday i had lunch with a possible language candidate. It was also my Timothy's last day. I had a sinking feeling and a lump in my throat. It was the Doris loss effect that makes loss, separation and absence a challenge.
Day 6 an admin person broke down emotionally, so I had to hear the case. I assured the person that ministry was not worth a mental breakdown, not that I have not seen it.
Sunday was Father's day, and I was glad an English coworker had a pulpit breakthrough. I did some work on Bible grammar before dinner. At night I was invited to celebrate dinner with buddy and his future in-laws.

Year 3.3
Year 3.3 ended my USA trip. On Monday I had lunch with a couple who left for another church. My replacement phoneas maps app did not work, so I requestwd a stranger to call them from MacDonald to pick me up. Unfortunately the new place is no better than the old. After that I was on the way to San Diego to join Doris' family members for dinner, six including me, at buca di beppo, a usual haunt when Doris was with us. The drive was sleepy after lunch, so I dropped by at Elsinore for Starbucks coffee, finding a place we frequented.
Day 2 of the week was in San Diego too. I went with my brother in law from Doris' side to open an account because they were concerned I have no beneficiary. For the first time I saw a a bona fide book store, a thing rarely seen in Los Angeles. We had our lunch at the new Smash. After a short rest I headed to the nearby Barnes and spent more than two hours there before we had our Vietnamese dinner.
On Wednesday my brother in law created an online account for me to transfer and manage my money. After a short breakfast snack I drove to Orange county to meet my mentor Herman Tang for lunch at Habit. After lunch I decided to visit Biola, where Doris got her PhD degree from Rosemead School of Psychology. Like last week at APU, I bought the school T-shirt to remember my wife. It was my second last day in USA, but a student Doris supervised perviously texted me for dinner with her husband and daughter. I gave the student turned seminary lecturer a book last week and she reciprocated with snacks.
Day 4 I had lunch with my sister in Pasadena. As I was leaving I remembered taking Doris to nearby mater dolorosa retreat center, where we watched deers at night drinking from the fountain. It was hard to locate but I managed with new phone. I visited my former Deacon at a hospital but thankfully he was discharged.
Friday was the plane ride to HK. I was extremely thankful to God because I was seated cramped between two seats but the two passengers in front of me moved, so I got permission from the young man in front window seat to sit on the aisle seat. Previously I tried changing seats on the internet but it didn't work out. It was a taxing near 15 hours flight. I watched Downsizing before I slept and Man of Steel after.
Day 6 The plane arrived on time and I reached home 9am. After I showered a friend helped me transfer my card to Doris' old phone. I had to uninstall then install WhatsApp to get it to work. The challenge was to stay awake the rest of the day so that I could sleep normally at night. Praise God I managed to keep awake the rest of the day.
On Sunday a co-worker had to preach at a worship, so I took his place at the English worship. After worship I had lunch with an immigrating coworker. I will definitely miss him after eight years together. I had to attend an ordination interview a little later. My helpers came at 730pm and we ended with prayer till 1045pm.

Year 3.2
Week 3.2 is quite challenging for the third year, first week of Doris loss. Monday was lunch with our former prayer group of Michael, Alan and Darwin. I did shopping before my meetings begin the next day. At night I picked up Paul and wife from Chino and took them to our favorite Japanese restaurant. The business is thirty years old. I was so glad to find it opened ten years we last visited.
Day 2 The faculty conference started at 915am in the morning. It was good and wonderful to see old friends expecially good friend Jon. One thing I wanted to do on this trip was to obtain Doris' previous call in broadcast recordings, so I wrote an email the night before to the gospel station, but was invited to share or be interviewed on live radio the next day. The host was praying for a guest this week
On Wednesday I woke up early and wrote two letters I mustered my coutage to pen.
The chair of the trustee board shared his story of growing up. His father died when he was 16 and his wife in her forties. I like stories rather than meetings. We shared an affinity because we met within a year of our wives' loss. My friends said the live interview on am1430.net was "very good." We had a snack later.
Day 4 we were introduced to new faculty candidates. All of them were fine think tank scholars. The China scholars were really humble and impressive. Their stories of growing up, having faith and serving God against all odds were too amazing to believe. One said at one time the word "Christianity" was literally forgotten in China.
On Friday I shared Grammar Bible to the group's delight. It was harder to show them how to download than to use the app. I was happy the seminary carved out an extra half hour for me even though they did not expect me to come because of a misunderstanding. I took Jon to stay overnight at his friends place.
Day 6 Graduation was at 10am so it was a challenge without WiFi to pick up Jon. I took Paul and wife home, followed by Walmart shopping with Jon. My phone broke at night and my WhatsApp in my sister's replacement phone did not work, therefore I could only use email and Facebook for contact
On Sunday I traveled to Riverside to meet former church members rather than go with Jon and his friends to Lake Avenue. I spent forty five minutes with a leader and others at lunch. After watching Han Solo, I dropped off Jon to an airport hotel, then had dinner at in n out with our nephew Joshua who found a new job but had a small accident. Hardest thing is to use email to indicate where to eat at the airport in an unfamiliar place without WhatsApp. So far I have not been lost without maps and wifi.
