Year 3.6 was fast and furious. Twelve coworkers send our good friend Alan off at airport for his next challenge of ministering in Kingston, Canada. Many of us were very fond and proud of him, me too. Later I had a good chiro hour. At night four Pth interns graduated from ABS.
Day 2 was boisterous. Buddy took coworkers out for tea to celebrate his election into EC at 345 pm with an aided public announcement from the pastor. The atmosphere was so positive.
Wednesday was decision day turned awry for candidate. It will be felt for a long time. I dreamed 167 to 100 of passing. Leaders meeting had their input. Language meeting followed but I was so tired.
Day 4 lunch was with an editor. Book is set for December release. There was no time to waste because I had to work on my Sunday sermon. Meanwhile yesterday’s news reverberated. At evening I had foot treatment; everything is falling apart. This time he worked on my cold feet.
Friday fellowship was canceled due fifth Friday, which was a good thing because I had to attend a night memorial service. After the service we had dinner together. A coworker spouse asked me if I think of Doris at the same funeral home. Not much because it’s not same room but there were memories building.
Day 6 I finally activated my fruit phone for regular use after finding out there’s no way I could retrieve WhatsApp messages from my old phone. had to preach at night, when I received a very unfavorable feedback.
Sunday I preached the same sermon but the comments were very favorable. I had dinner with my English counterpart and a seminary student at TWW. The food and fellowship were great. I bought two pillows and a frying pan with hands to help me carry pan and pillows home.

Year 3.5
Year 3.5 covered the 25th month without Doris. On public holiday Monday I went with the youth to university for lunch, then to Yuen Long for famous grass jelly dessert, eventually gathering the group for dinner at my place and watching the world cup together. They took the 11pm bus home.
Day 2 I received a call from Asus saying that the screen repair charge was $1020, so there was no reason to keep the phone. At night a neighbor ordered iPhone 7 for me with 128g at 15 off. I decided to switch since most of my WhatsApp message were already lost.
By Wednesday I was frantically working on my Philippians 4 Sunday sermon. There was much to cover on verses 13-
19. I still did not get the flow of the verses. Language meeting was rocky, but at least I did my piece. Buddy's nomination was approved with no objection. Proud of him.
Day 4 I met with a fellowship member who asked for counsel on a lawsuit. I have no counsel but for him to ask new believers at his office about what to do so that they can grow together. After lunch I had a haircut and bought lilies for Doris. Hand treatment was at night.
Friday was Doris' 25 months of loss. I dreamed I was brushing or massaging Doris' hand or arm so that she could get to sleep faster - her favorite habit. As usual I wore black but I was glad I did not have to accompany Doris' sister for night fellowship, so I joined 馬友組 for dinner.
The phone finally arrived before lunch on Saturday. I stayed behind for fellowship and our ABS grads were in force for a last farewell. Eli gave me a cover for my new PC, which I'm sure he did not know I bought one.
Sunday school and sermon were blessed, with a few expressing appreciation. I met with Arthur at noon over coffee to see what ministry opportunities were available for our new seminary student in his city. The youth and a neighbor joined me for dinnerand prayer.

Year 3.4
Year 3.4 was a week of recuperation from USA trip. On Monday I went to get flowers for Doris and then had a chiro appointment. I missed smelling fragrant daisies. Dinner was with buddy, but another was on a mission trip.
Day 2 was a long day because there were a morning meeting and evening fellowship. Lunch was farewell party with one of my fondest coworkers. Men's was disappointing because only three showed up. I left USA almonds for staff and coworkers on the table but even the packet was gone by next morning.
On Wednesday I attended a leaders meeting and I was glad it ended by 2pm. At 3 I had to intervene into an emotional conflict, not my strength. Dinner was with a USA friend C who is planning to attend seminary, but has no breakthrough.
Day 4 The half day was full. Lunch was with CBI rep who wanted me to be involved with a new certificate program. Next I had tea with a fellow leader who took the time to find out how I'm doing, but it was cut short because I had to visit cais. I was glad I could install an old Bible program in my new PC after an arduous attempt. Dinner was with 馬友組
On Friday i had lunch with a possible language candidate. It was also my Timothy's last day. I had a sinking feeling and a lump in my throat. It was the Doris loss effect that makes loss, separation and absence a challenge.
Day 6 an admin person broke down emotionally, so I had to hear the case. I assured the person that ministry was not worth a mental breakdown, not that I have not seen it.
Sunday was Father's day, and I was glad an English coworker had a pulpit breakthrough. I did some work on Bible grammar before dinner. At night I was invited to celebrate dinner with buddy and his future in-laws.

Year 3.3
Year 3.3 ended my USA trip. On Monday I had lunch with a couple who left for another church. My replacement phoneas maps app did not work, so I requestwd a stranger to call them from MacDonald to pick me up. Unfortunately the new place is no better than the old. After that I was on the way to San Diego to join Doris' family members for dinner, six including me, at buca di beppo, a usual haunt when Doris was with us. The drive was sleepy after lunch, so I dropped by at Elsinore for Starbucks coffee, finding a place we frequented.
Day 2 of the week was in San Diego too. I went with my brother in law from Doris' side to open an account because they were concerned I have no beneficiary. For the first time I saw a a bona fide book store, a thing rarely seen in Los Angeles. We had our lunch at the new Smash. After a short rest I headed to the nearby Barnes and spent more than two hours there before we had our Vietnamese dinner.
On Wednesday my brother in law created an online account for me to transfer and manage my money. After a short breakfast snack I drove to Orange county to meet my mentor Herman Tang for lunch at Habit. After lunch I decided to visit Biola, where Doris got her PhD degree from Rosemead School of Psychology. Like last week at APU, I bought the school T-shirt to remember my wife. It was my second last day in USA, but a student Doris supervised perviously texted me for dinner with her husband and daughter. I gave the student turned seminary lecturer a book last week and she reciprocated with snacks.
Day 4 I had lunch with my sister in Pasadena. As I was leaving I remembered taking Doris to nearby mater dolorosa retreat center, where we watched deers at night drinking from the fountain. It was hard to locate but I managed with new phone. I visited my former Deacon at a hospital but thankfully he was discharged.
Friday was the plane ride to HK. I was extremely thankful to God because I was seated cramped between two seats but the two passengers in front of me moved, so I got permission from the young man in front window seat to sit on the aisle seat. Previously I tried changing seats on the internet but it didn't work out. It was a taxing near 15 hours flight. I watched Downsizing before I slept and Man of Steel after.
Day 6 The plane arrived on time and I reached home 9am. After I showered a friend helped me transfer my card to Doris' old phone. I had to uninstall then install WhatsApp to get it to work. The challenge was to stay awake the rest of the day so that I could sleep normally at night. Praise God I managed to keep awake the rest of the day.
On Sunday a co-worker had to preach at a worship, so I took his place at the English worship. After worship I had lunch with an immigrating coworker. I will definitely miss him after eight years together. I had to attend an ordination interview a little later. My helpers came at 730pm and we ended with prayer till 1045pm.

Year 3.2
Week 3.2 is quite challenging for the third year, first week of Doris loss. Monday was lunch with our former prayer group of Michael, Alan and Darwin. I did shopping before my meetings begin the next day. At night I picked up Paul and wife from Chino and took them to our favorite Japanese restaurant. The business is thirty years old. I was so glad to find it opened ten years we last visited.
Day 2 The faculty conference started at 915am in the morning. It was good and wonderful to see old friends expecially good friend Jon. One thing I wanted to do on this trip was to obtain Doris' previous call in broadcast recordings, so I wrote an email the night before to the gospel station, but was invited to share or be interviewed on live radio the next day. The host was praying for a guest this week
On Wednesday I woke up early and wrote two letters I mustered my coutage to pen.
The chair of the trustee board shared his story of growing up. His father died when he was 16 and his wife in her forties. I like stories rather than meetings. We shared an affinity because we met within a year of our wives' loss. My friends said the live interview on am1430.net was "very good." We had a snack later.
Day 4 we were introduced to new faculty candidates. All of them were fine think tank scholars. The China scholars were really humble and impressive. Their stories of growing up, having faith and serving God against all odds were too amazing to believe. One said at one time the word "Christianity" was literally forgotten in China.
On Friday I shared Grammar Bible to the group's delight. It was harder to show them how to download than to use the app. I was happy the seminary carved out an extra half hour for me even though they did not expect me to come because of a misunderstanding. I took Jon to stay overnight at his friends place.
Day 6 Graduation was at 10am so it was a challenge without WiFi to pick up Jon. I took Paul and wife home, followed by Walmart shopping with Jon. My phone broke at night and my WhatsApp in my sister's replacement phone did not work, therefore I could only use email and Facebook for contact
On Sunday I traveled to Riverside to meet former church members rather than go with Jon and his friends to Lake Avenue. I spent forty five minutes with a leader and others at lunch. After watching Han Solo, I dropped off Jon to an airport hotel, then had dinner at in n out with our nephew Joshua who found a new job but had a small accident. Hardest thing is to use email to indicate where to eat at the airport in an unfamiliar place without WhatsApp. So far I have not been lost without maps and wifi.

Year`3.1
This week is the end of the second year of Doris' loss and the first week this year of it.The eve of the second year, Monday, was a somber day made pleasant by friends. A USA buddy was in town and asked me for lunch on a day I cleared all things for calm. After lunch I went to my chiropractor. Another buddy cut my hair for the big day tomorrow and then coworkers joined me for drinks. At night my neighbor invited me along with a seminarian to dinner .
Day 2 Into the first minute into the day I sent out Doris' talk on forgiveness, our last book and my talk on grieving. The last day of the second year of Doris' loss was easier to take because of the company of relatives and friends. In the morning Doris' two sisters and a youth joined me for breakfast planned by her sisters. Four youth and I watched Avengers because I wanted a sad movie to cry with. After the movie I bought a pot of orchids for Doris to remember her by. Her sisters brought small artificial flowers because I was going to USA the next day, but two groups presented lilies and roses. At night last year's group who accompanied me to Shanghai and youths, by God's grace,
prepared a dinner for me. They were a blessing to me.
On Wednesday I left for early leaders meeting, but alerted the group I had to leave by 2pm. Some coworkers joined me for lunch before my USA friend gave me a ride to the airport, taking his home luggage with me as well. On the plane I watched Guardians 2, Greatest Show and Wolf. The two seats to my left were empty, so I could recline on seats for sleep. My sister picked me up and my host friend gave me medication to sleep better locally after our Vietnamese food dinner.
Day 4 I went to Riverside to check county records, which turned out that previous documentation was accurate. For lunch I took my sister out to Cheesecake Factory for her birthday lunch. At night my host took me to Urban. In between I did some shopping.
On Friday I visited a seminary I once taught. Later I bought a computer because mine at home was beyond repair. It was the first of many traffic mistakes locating stores and places because of the absence of WiFi. At night we enjoyed northern spicy food.
Day 6 I had breakfast in an organic food store we used to frequent. It stirred my heart emotionally because we used to buy protein, canned fish and other health products there. I tried to visit the library but it has moved. The host's kid says it has moved five or six years ago.
Sunday morning I was at a big church where I visited a fond elderly pastor and gave him Doris blog book and new book. The choir sang a beautiful song that silenced to again at night, bring uncontrollably:
*陪我走过春夏秋冬*
風風雨雨的時候 才知道祢的溫柔多年前 幾年後 仍然相信祢恩手
一年年的長大 一次次的慕
祢都陪我 安慰我 憐憫我
祢說會陪我走過春夏秋冬
疼我 引導我 保護我
倚靠耶和華的人什麼不怕
倚靠耶和華 一個不撇下
風風雨雨的時候 才知道祢的溫柔

祢都陪我 安慰我 憐憫我

Night was dinner with a former member T whose son graduated from pharmacy school.
It was surely a week to remember!

Year 2.52 Last week was a time of tears as I finalized this on the second anniversary of my beloved Doris' loss. Tears flooded my eyes last Monday morning as I had time to read what her Macau students wrote to her when they visited her urn on Saturday at home. I had M burgers for lunch with another buddy at church garage. After lunch I prayed with my buddies and A bound to Canada. After that I sent my mentor Herman off to USA after three months at ABS. They shocked me with six luggages for two people.
Day 2 Two sermon groups asked me to meet after coworkers meeting. Gal. 6 grroup met half an hour while the other just passed notes. I just wanted it done asap because the quality is so so. At night I had dinner with Jacob and family at his residence.
On Wednesday I had morning appointment with chiropractor who worked satisfactorily on my numbed left leg. Then our department had lunch with a birthday staff. Night leaders meeting ended before 11pm for the first time.
Day 4 I am working feverishly on my revised marketplace book to give Doris a present on her second anniversary loss. I was in good shape with the self imposed deadline. After half day work I went for hand treatment.
Friday was a relaxing day because there was no night fellowship. SDD leader called for a last minute meeting to collect church resources, so I was one of his sought volunteeers, no escape but I limited the meeting to one hour.
Day 6 was emotional for me. I kept thinking of my beloved wife off and on. Night was calm because fellowship was cancelled for another event. At night I did prayer walk but no stretching, as chiropractor warned.
Sunday was emotional from the get go. My tears on MTR was interrupted by familiar faces who asked many questions. Language worship also brought tears with a song我要永永远远愛着耶稣. The language baptism for three was at Tuen Mun followed by dinner with three youths at my place, where we shared our prayers. Thank God for their company.

Year 2.51
Year 2.51 means the second anniversary of Doris' loss is just one week away only! On Monday I had lunch with my neighbor and his wife. Life is full of surprises. A Canada friend audioed me to to say that a neighbor of mine i have been praying for daily and had immigrated to Canada is now attending his church in Canada. Later I had chiropractor treatment after two months' absence. At night I attended buddy's couples fellowship anniversary.
Day 2 meeting did not turn out well and most were flat. The backfire was hard to take with younger ones taking it to heart and wanting their say. At night eight surpringly attended men's fellowship, the most to date in the year. One stayed over.
On Wednesday morning I woke to a dream of Doris. Last week I prayed for a dream for the coming anniversary, so I am content. She was in a very good shape wearing a white T-shirt and sky blue shorts while packing a lunch box for the next day. Breakfast was with a youth. At the office had 18 short audios in the morning to reply while working on a sermon. Later I attended the leaders' meeting while working furiously on my PC. I managed to get my point across why a co-worker failed to attend. My day was almost gone after the meeting, so I bypassed next meeting.
My hand treatment was cancelled, so I laid back and had coffee downstairs in the morning. At least I have been consistent with night prayer walk.
Friday came by and my voice was slowly recovering. I had dinner with Doris' sister and her husband before fellowship.
Day 6 began with a 10am bank signing, lunch with language director and meeting with other department. I finally sent all 200 photos to my video angel to make Doris video for her anniversary. All went well and I stayed behind for a short fellowship at night. It was wonderful to see pth C back again after a six months' absence.
Sunday kicked off with my first AGLT class and the response from the 67 students were strong. I also attended the language worship followed by English worship, then lunch with youth, drinks with two coworkers, dinner with youth because Yao remembered Doris with flowers and vase, how sweet!

Year 2.50
Year 2.50 was a full blown health crisis avoided. On Monday the final right toe nail injured from descending Mt. Sinai fell off, ending a five month red toe crisis. I took Herman and Eleanor for lunch so that Mrs Tang can enjoy the flowers at nearby Flower Market. They bought a small pot of roses for Doris. My other buddy joined us for dessert.
Day 2 I woke to a dream of my buddy crying with red eyes due to a house financial crisis. I comforted him the best I could, saying It's OK. We had a Labor Day retreat at Tao Feng where the speaker Keith did a good job. My cough kicked off big time due to air conditioner. A few of us had a good noodles dinner at Shatin on the way back. I slept a few hours immediately before sunset.
Wednesday was a leaders meeting where everything went awry with my voice almost disappearing. There was no rest because Sunday was sermon day. I did a feedback for my other coworker. Again I slept a few more hours returning home and ate all thee medicine coworkers provided, from herbal tea, vitamin C, 龍角散 etc.
I met Douglas to talk about how my marketplace book was doing and all went well. Hopefully it'll be published by years end. At night I gave a talk at Thursday Bible study.
Friday was a frantic rush hour to complete the sermon, but the introduction had to wait. I had dinner with relatives but did not attend fellowship because I was still not well.
On Day 6 I managed to write the introduction and did prestudy for my buddy's fellowship, then attended pth fellowship thinking of leaving soon but a couples leader requested help on Psalms 80.
Sunday morning began with a meeting for seminary students and a sponsor. The sermon went as good as it could with me under the weather. Ordination was late afternoon and I had dinner with youth. The week was also emotional because of Doris' pending second anniversary of loss.

Year 2.49
Year 2.49 was not good for my health. On Monday I took my brother and his wife plus a youth to Morning tea but I was annoyed with my brother's inappropriate remarks to others. Later we headed to the fruit market followed by high tea at tsing yi. I finished the first version of OT Grammar Bible in a month, which was a lot of work. Now I hand it to three youths to edit for v2.
Day 2 my brother and wife headed home. Regardless he was fun to be with. He also left a cold with me. Sunday sermon was coming fast, so I had to work doubly hard. A friend had a meeting meltdown with Some, so I had dinner to console the person.
On Wednesday morning I had breakfast with a pth guy and asked him if he could give support to seminary youngsters. Next I attended a leaders meeting that ended on time. I was so glad because I was behind due morning breakfast and our meeting. At night the Tuesday person was mad at me for asking questions, but most did not see the questions as problems.
Day 4 morning I received a call from a USA guy who is having marital and property problems with his wife and wanted to move to the island. I had to cancel my doctor's appointment for my cough to meet with the person. My hand treatment went well.
On Friday morning I saw a doctor who gave me some ineffective medication. We had a department meeting and annual feedback with a co-worker. We didn't have couples fellowship, so I left early.
Day 6 was a noisy day at the office due renovation. I went with others to the library to escape the noise. There was no other fellowship due to retreat next Tuesday.
Sunday my throat was still inflamed but the sermon went well One youth accepted Christ. I did youth feedback and event home for a nap from the cold and had dinner with the youth.
